I’ve also bought two new things this year (one new thing and one replacement thing) - I didn’t put an official number to how many items id allow myself this year but I did commit to 2025 being a low-buy year. I was a bit scarred when I realised I’d bought two things in the first two weeks of the year.. but also I really felt you when you said that you needed to:
“balance the fun parts with the more practical needs. If they can save me from having an outfit crisis before every family event, they’ll definitely be worth it!”
The what am I going to wear crisis can be so real!!
At least the outfit crisis feel so real! It just isn't fun to feel physically or emotionally uncomfortable in an outfit - I find it can really affect my mood.
If you would like to share, what did you buy? Or is that in an upcoming post? 😊
I think it will be in an upcoming post but I'm happy to share here too! I bought a jacket that's sort of a hybrid between a barn style and a military style. I couldn't resist! It felt like a really interesting and still functional take on the traditional barn style jackets. So that was my completely new thing, and then I bought some black velvet ballet flats to replace a black pair of ballet flats that are really scruffy now.
From the ‘full body yes’, it sounds like you’ve made some great additions to your wardrobe. Love the silk pants! I sometimes have the same struggle with casual dressy events falling in the realm of office wear vibes.
I’m really enjoying my no-buy so far! Shocked at how much my no-browsing/wishlisting rule has impacted where I invest my time.
Thank you! Do you have any go-to outfits for casual dressy events that aren't office wear?
I'm still struggling with how much time I spend browsing (post coming next week), but love that it has affected how you spend your time. It's a work in progress!
I think my biggest go-to's for casual dressy events are jewelry and makeup. I'll add pearl charms to my usual silver hoops to make them statement earrings, and a red or wine colored lip.
Ah, the browsing can be tough! Definitely a work in progress. I look forward to reading your post!
I think you made 2 really smart choices...they feel like pieces that you will have for a very long time. And I love all of the styling options you put together!
I've bought 1 pair of boots and blew the rest of my clothing budget on a tailor so I'm at 1/25 for right now. I do have credit at a consignment shop so I may have a wander around there some weekend.

Jewellery and makeup is such impactful additions!

Thank you so much! Was fun putting the outfits together and could definitely come up with more.
1/25 seems like a good place to be at and the boots really seemed like your style!
I'm always so inspired by Anna and am here for a "full body yes" buy :)
Sometimes we just need to listen to our gut - I never regret those purchases!
